Welcome to the Boland 90 Inter-Club Hiking Challenge Webpage

We the organizing committee of the Boland 90 Interclub Hiking Challenge Event invite you to join us for the Event held in the Hottentots Hollands Nature Reserve in October 2023 details can be found here. The Hottentots Hollands Nature Reserve lies in the majestic Hottentots Holland Mountains, about 90km south-east of Cape Town. The 70 000-hectare reserve stretches from Elgin in the south to beyond Villiersdorp in the north, and from the Stellenbosch Mountains in the west, eastwards to the Groenland Mountains, and is a World Heritage Site. It boasts a rich variety of fynbos plants, animals, birds, insects and reptiles.

The Boland 90 Interclub Hiking Challenge comprise teams consisting of 4 hikers in different categories such as scholars, men, women, veterans and juniors competing over 90 kms of different daily circular routes over the 3 days, except the junior challenge that will be over 8 and 10kms in teams of 2 juniors The further details of the route and additional type of challenges can be found here.

Boland 90 Interclub Hiking Challenge includes the following components where competitors are awarded points for;
- Navigation map reading skills
- Mountaineering safety, team work and leadership skills
- Minimum equipment, First aid and medical emergency skills
- Conservation & Environmental education task completion knowledge & skills
